To Begin
The first thing you wan to do is determine the color scheme and style you want for your bathroom. Each bathroom accessory you choose must fit into your plan. You'll want to take the color and patterns of your tiles, wallpaper, paint, etc. into consideration as well. Most decorators recommend beginning with your shower curtain. This might the most important bathroom accessory overall.

Steer clear of the transparent, vinyl curtains. They may be inexpensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. These cheaply made curtains don't last long, and the visible mold and mildew buildup isn't very aesthetically pleasing. Cloth, nylon, or cotton curtains are definitely the way to go. Be sure to choose towels and bathmats that accent the color you have chosen. The same applies for all the other smaller accessories.

Finishes
Chrome and brass used to be the only finishes available for bathroom accessories, but manufacturers today produce a wide variety of stylish finishes include wrought iron, brushed nickel, and even oil-rubbed bronze. However, even though non-chrome finishes represent almost half of the products on the market, the traditional chrome is still the most popular selling bathroom accessory finish.
